Dekornik wallpaper is designed for straightforward installation, with individual strips that align beautifully to create a seamless finish.
Before You Begin
- Ensure your wall is smooth, dry, clean and free from dust or grease.
- Prime the wall thoroughly before applying the wallpaper.
- If your wall has been freshly painted, allow approximately 20 days before installation.
- This wallpaper is not self-adhesive and requires wallpaper paste.
- Use a suitable water-based, solvent-free wallpaper adhesive. Dekornik recommends Flügger 377.
How to Apply
- Prepare your strips: Measure your wall and plan the position of each wallpaper strip before applying adhesive.
- Apply the adhesive: Spread wallpaper paste evenly onto the wall, covering an area slightly wider than one strip, following the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.
- Start from the top: Position your first strip at the ceiling, allowing the remaining wallpaper to hang naturally downwards.
- Match the pattern: Apply each additional strip carefully, aligning the stripes and hearts for a continuous design.
- Smooth gently: Use a soft, dry cloth to press the wallpaper into place, avoiding excessive rubbing.
- Finish the edges: Carefully remove any excess adhesive and trim surplus wallpaper using a sharp decorating knife.
Helpful Tip: Dekornik recommends starting from the left side of the wall. Each strip features a repeating design to make pattern matching easier and help minimise waste.
